D65 TWI (Two-Way Immersion) Expansion Discussion
Come and learn more about the District 65 Two Way Immersion (TWI) program and the need to consider program expansion in District 65. Sessions will include a short presentation about the program goals, strengths, and challenges.
Currently, District 65 has greater demand for the program than can be met from native Spanish and native English speakers. We look forward to hearing from families on factors that should be considered as the district considers expansion. All D65 families are invited to attend.
Both sessions will be held from 6-7pm. Spanish interpretation will be provided.
Wednesday, September 13 – Fleetwood Jourdain Community Center (1655 Foster St)
Tuesday, September 19 – Location changed to WASHINGTON SCHOOL (914 Ashland Ave.)

4th & 5th grade co-ed Flag Football – We need players & coaches!
Parents must complete both the Liability Waiver and Code of Conduct Form along with $30 payment cash or Check made to Evanston Recreation Department (NOT Walker). Both forms are available here for download. Please email Al Bonney if you have questions or are interested in representing Walker in flag football! 
Picture Day is Wednesday September 6th!
Please do NOT wear Green (children are photographed with a green-screen background so parents can choose the color background should they choose to order their child’s school pictures after reviewing them.)
Dear Parents,
This year our school is sponsoring a fall picture program by Color Portraits, Inc. All students will be photographed individually. No payment is required on picture day.

Please join us -First Day of School Coffee
Monday August 28, 9:15am in the Walker lunchroom/multipurpose room
Walker PTA is proud to host our annual First Day of school coffee. As soon as you’ve seen your little ones (or not so little ones) off to their new year, please join us for a quick welcome back cup o’joe!
Our parents love getting just a little time to socialize with some of the other Walker parents. See old friends, make new ones, and breath a sigh of relief (or dry their tears and count down the hours till they can hear all about their kiddos day). However you’re feeling, whether you’re a pro at this or brand new, the Walker community is here for you.
We’ll have info about PTA and all the exciting things we’ll be doing this year, and you can chat with us more about getting involved, ask questions, or just get a jump start on your day!

Justin Wynn Fund -SoccerFest – Sunday September 3rd!
“SOCCERFEST is Back!
The Justin Wynn Fund SOCCERFEST returns after a 15-year break! The much anticipated soccer tournament is right around the corner on Sunday, September 3, 2017.
SIGN UP EARLY TO ENSURE YOUR SPOT! Registration will close on 9/1 or when we reach our maximum number of teams.
* Sign up a group of 3 players (co-ed)
* We will pair your up with another group of 3 to make a team of 6
* Compete as one united team in 4-v-4 games and build friendships with other soccer-lovers in your community! Each team is guaranteed at least 4 games
Each player receives a t-shirt and winners will receive a trophy ! It’s fun for EVERYONE – there will be CONCESSIONS, a DUNK TANK, and other fun games and sideline attractions all day long!
SOCCERFEST is brought to you by The Justin Wynn Fund in collaboration with AYSO, JaHbat, Team Evanston and Eleven United.
