Teachers Return!
Sarah Schoonyoung, John Hernandez and I had a chance to see our the teachers and staff return to our beloved Walker school. We also had the opportunity to meet Edie Hertel, our new librarian, Soledad Rios, our new EL teacher, and Jillian Gomez, our new part time PE teacher in the afternoon.
It is because of all of you, Walker PTA members, that we were able to provide some nourishment for the whole staff as they make preparations for the new school year. We want you to know that the Walker School Staff were all very grateful for your contributions!
We had so much fun that we are excited to experience many more events this coming school year with all of you!
Starbucks Coffee on Main generously donated two coolers of coffee (one hot and one cold) along with cream, various sugar packets, stir sticks, and lids. Please frequent that particular location and let them know you are from Walker School!

Ice Cream Social/Enrichment Fair
The Walker PTA Hospitality Committee is busy planning the ice cream social that will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014, at 6 p.m.
Tiffany Joo, our Hospitality Chair who is currently looking for a co-chair, would like to extend her invitation to join her as co-chair of the Hospitality Committee or as an awesome team member. Please contact Tiffany Joo if you are interested!
Come join us for a frozen custard treat generously donated by Andy’s Frozen Custard, while you are finding out more information about the many before and after school activities available at Walker this year!
Elyse Fineman, our Enrichment Activities Chair, has invited all of the providers to attend so you can get a feel for which activity/activities appeal to you and yours.
Back-to-School Picnic
The PTA is hosting the annual back-to-school picnic on Saturday, August 23rd, 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.

First Day of School
The first day of school is Monday, August 25, 2014!
The PTA will host a short meet-and-greet at the cafeteria right after the morning bell; around 9:05 a.m. We will have coffee available for your sipping pleasure!
Please join us as we introduce this year’s PTA Executive Committee, who will have a brief overview of exciting things to come throughout the school year, as well as a short message from Erik Friedman, our Principal.
We will also have sign-up sheets for various committees that need your help!
