Scholastic Book Fair Volunteers Needed!
Hello Walker Families!
The Scholastic Book Fair is rapidly approaching! The committee is hard at work, and we are determined to have our most successful fair yet. More information will be coming in today’s e-folders, including a fun new Coin Collection Drive to provide books for every classroom at Walker School!
In order to reach our goals, we are in need of volunteers. Putting on an event this big requires lots of support, and we are hoping that you will help! We’re using VolunteerSpot (the leading online signup and reminder tool) to organize our upcoming activity.
Please sign up for the Walker Scholastic Book Fair — here’s how it works in 3 easy steps:
- Click this link to go to our invitation page on VolunteerSpot: http://vols.pt/iTfMRv
- Enter your email address: (You will NOT need to register an account on VolunteerSpot)
- Sign up! Choose your spots – VolunteerSpot will send you an automated confirmation and reminders. Easy!
Note: VolunteerSpot does not share your email address with anyone. If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact me and I can sign you up manually.
Please make sure that when signing up you enter YOUR email address and NOT WalkerPTA@ yahoogroups.com.
We thank you in advance for your support and look forward to seeing you at the fair!!

Walker School BBQ / Ice Cream Social / Enrichment Fair
This event will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2014, at 6 p.m. If the weather does not co-operate, we will take the festivities indoors. So, either way, rain or shine, please come!!!
Our Back-to-School picnic was canceled due to really bad weather, so we would like to make it up by having the picnic at Walker during the Ice Cream Social/Enrichment Fair!
Tiffany Joo and Erika Seaver, our Hospitality Co-Chairs, are currently looking for people to help them out in this and upcoming events. Please contact Tiffany and/or Erika if you are interested!
Come join us for a burger, veggie burger, hot dog, and/or frozen custard treat, generously donated by Andy’s Frozen Custard, while you are finding out more information about the many before and after school activities available at Walker this year!
Elyse Fineman, our Enrichment Activities Chair, has invited all of the providers to attend so you can get a feel for which activity/activities appeal to you and yours. As a side note, Elyse is currently looking for an apprentice who can take over the Enrichment Activities Chair next year!
First Day of School 2014!!!
Today was the first day of the 2014 school year!!!
Although unseasonably hot, we think everyone enjoyed today. We loved the energy that surrounded today’s event! Go, Walker!
At the Principal/Parent Coffee, the Walker PTA Executive Committee introduced ourselves. We also, briefly, touched-upon the various committee roles of which we would like Walker parents to be a member.
It does not have to be now, but when you feel it is the right time, please let us know and we will do our best to place you in the role (knowing your input, of course!) that we feel is the best fit!
We are still hopeful that we will be able to provide a “picnic” for the Walker Community this Thursday during the Ice Cream Social, which also gives you a chance to meet our Enrichment Providers (Thank you, Elyse!). Please make plans to join us!
