Dear District 65 TWI, Dual Language, and Spanish Language Arts parents/caregivers, The Multilingual team is seeking community members, specifically TWI parents/caregivers, educators, and building administration to join the SAP III TWI Program Priorities committee. This committee will discuss and prioritize dual language best practices to be shared with the Structural Deficit Reduction Plan (SDRP) Student Programming Committee. Learn more about the overall SDRP Phase III here.
The committee will:
● Commit to a data-driven, recommendation-making process that uses District student data and established, research based best practices in dual language education.
● Develop TWI program priorities to be shared with the SDRP Student Programming Committee to guide their work when looking at program locations across the District schools.
Applications will be reviewed based on the following criteria and considerations:
● Ability to commit to a majority of the meetings
● Have a connection to the TWI program as an educator, parent/caregiver, and/or community partner
● Alignment with the District’s Commitment to Equity
● Can contribute to the diverse composition of the committee of parents/caregivers, community members, and organizational representatives
● We are seeking at least two parent/caregiver representatives from each of the TWI schools. Each pair of school representatives should have at least one Spanish speaking parent/caregiver.
Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
Apply to be part of the TWI Program Priorities committee
It is expected that there will be three stakeholder meetings in the evenings for 1.5 hours each. The first planning meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, April 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tentatively the other two dates are Tuesday, April 29 and Tuesday, May 6, 6-7:30 p.m. Childcare will be available at all meetings.
We are fully committed to maintaining our Two-Way Immersion (TWI) program, which supports Spanish-speaking and English proficient students in becoming bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural. It’s so important that we have a representative group of participants. We value your perspective and strongly encourage you to apply!
Warmly,
Amy Correa
