PTA Equity Project (PEP)The (co)chairs serve as liaisons to the district-wide PTA Equity Project, organizing fundraising and family events that promote equity and inclusion. They help ensure PEP principles are practiced at Walker.Meetings throughout the school year; PEP Fest (annual; date varies).
GardenThe (co)chairs oversee the Walker Garden, which features raised vegetable beds and native plants. The committee maintains and plants greenery, schedules watering, and occasionally partners with teachers to bring the garden into the classroom.Year-round support, especially spring planting and summer watering.
SpiritThe (co)chairs work with the co-presidents to survey the Walker community and develop programming that aligns with Walker’s values and affirms our diverse community.Meetings with the co-presidents to review survey results and plan programming.
Lost & FoundThe (co)chairs organize and post photos of lost items, coordinate donations to the Evanston School Children’s Clothing Association (ESCCA), and schedule a “last call” for unclaimed items twice a year.Quarterly item checks; donations to ESCCA in December and June.
AuditThe (co)chairs assist the Treasurer with annual audit preparations by reviewing financial records and reports to help keep the PTA in good standing as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.Timeframe set by the Treasurer; must be completed by mid-November.
FundraisingThe (co)chairs manage fundraising throughout the school year, including event fundraisers, dine-to-donate events, spiritwear sales, and more.Ongoing throughout the school year.
Community EngagementThis committee plans and runs community events—Bingo nights, dances, movie nights, and academic activities—to foster connection.Ongoing throughout the school year.
Climate ActionThe (co)chairs support green initiatives like recycling, composting, reusable event materials, and Earth Day activities to promote sustainability at Walker.Ongoing throughout the school year.
Conference Potlucks & Teacher AppreciationThe (co)chairs support teacher appreciation events during the holidays and Teacher Appreciation Week in May. They also coordinate donated snacks and meals for teachers during October and February conferences.October and February conferences; December holiday appreciation; May Teacher Appreciation Week.
YearbookThe (co)chairs collect photos, manage fundraising for fifth-grade yearbooks, and assist with the yearbook’s design and ordering.Photo collection during the year; design and ordering in spring.

ESCCA (District-Wide): Evanston School Children’s Clothing Association

Donate or volunteer: Gently used (or new) coats, gloves, hats, scarves, and other clothing items (see guidelines) to support D65 students through ESCCA’s shop at JEH.

Drop-off: JEH drive-up bin (west side, 1500 McDaniel) or Walker (inside Door 5, cafeteria entrance).
