August 2026 at Walker: Upcoming Dates

Back-to-school season is here! Here are the key dates Walker families should have on their calendars as we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year.

Evanston Park District fall program registration is underway.

Wednesday, August 19
Kindergarten Orientation — 2:00 p.m.
Kindergarten families are invited to stay afterward for snacks and playground time!

Monday, August 24
First Day of School

Start the morning with Walker families, Principal Gray, and the PTA. The PTA will be out with coffee at 8:45 a.m. at the blue picnic tables near the grades 3–5 playground. Stay for conversation and a welcome from Principal Gray at 9:05 a.m.

Then celebrate the first day at Chocolate Shoppe, 4041 Dempster St., from 4:00–9:00 p.m. Fifteen percent of purchases will benefit Walker and District 65—just show up, scoop up, and give back!
