We are in need of a chaperone for each of the Girls Play Sports After School Clinics scheduled at Walker. The chaperones that did it last year have not responded to our emails and so we are assuming that they are no longer available. The first GPS After School Clinic at Walker is scheduled for October 27th.
Here is the entire Walker calendar: October 27th, November 17th, December 22nd, January 26th, February 23rd and March 23rd.
Without chaperones we wouldn’t be able to run our Girls Play Sports After School Clinics. As you may be aware, the high school athletes get out of school at the same time as the 4th and 5th grade girls (3:35pm) so they usually don’t arrive until at least 3:50pm. The primary role of the chaperone is to welcome the 4th and 5th graders to the gym at the end of the school day and maintain an adult presence once the high school athletes begin their programs.
If the girls have a snack with them, they can eat their snacks before coming into the gym, and then you will have 10-15 minutes or so with them until the high school girls arrive. Leading them in some warm-up exercises is a great way to pass the time and get them ready to go for the high school athletes. When the high school girls arrive they are expected to take over so the chaperone role is to simply make sure the girls are safe and where they are supposed to be.
